Cache Flanagan was born and reared in Des Arc, Arkansas, and during his early years, he became intensely passionate about sports, especially football. Cache showed early in life that he had natural athletic ability. He advanced through the ranks fast, becoming one of his team’s most gifted players. His undying dedication to the sport was demonstrated by the countless hours he dedicated to refining his skills both on and off the field.
I had Cache as a 7th grader my last year where he started on the 9th grade team, and I watched him play pee wee for 4 years and knew he was going to be special. The kid loved football, he loved his teammates, and he loved being a Des Arc Eagle. I was closer to his dad than I actually was Cache, just from Jimmy Flanagan Jr. helping in our pee wee program and always stopping to visit when he came by practice. When I got the news yesterday it was a punch in the stomach. I can’t fathom the pain that the family and those closest to him are feeling, all I can say is he was a great kid who made his town proud, and I’m praying for all of you that are close to him. I’m praying for God’s peace and comfort over each of you and the entire town. We don’t understand why certain things happen but one thing is for sure, the only way we can find true peace is through Jesus, and I pray his spirit floods the entire town. Praying for you Des Arc! You’re a special place and you guys will get through this, Drake Widener said on a facebook post.
