Maxim Maffucci Cause of Death: On September 4, 2024, at the age of 82, Max Maffucci, a cherished husband, father, grandpa, and well-liked member of the Wethersfield, Connecticut, community, departed in peace. Max was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on January 29, 1942, and had a life characterized by love, grit, and a strong sense of duty to his family and community.

Max was happy to have graduated with a degree in business administration from Central Connecticut State University. After that, he established and ran Maffucci Hardware in Wethersfield for more than 40 years, leading to a prosperous career as a small business owner. A cornerstone of the neighborhood’s business community, Max was well-known for his honesty, commitment, and kind nature. Max’s hardware store was as more than simply a place of business; it was a hub for friends and neighbors, and he was always ready with a friendly grin, wise counsel, and a tale to tell.

Max’s life was centered around his family. For fifty-five years, he was the loving husband of Maria Maffucci. Together, they brought up their three children, Anthony, Gina, and Lisa, who brought him great joy and pride. As a devoted and helpful father, Max always inspired his kids to follow their goals and gave them the insight and direction they required to be successful. His biggest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was teaching them the craft of woodworking in his workshop or simply rooting for them at their athletic activities. He treasured every moment spent with them.

Max had a strong involvement in his neighborhood as well. He participated actively in the Wethersfield Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Paul’s Church, where he has held a number of leadership positions. He was highly recognized for his kindness and readiness to lend a hand, and he was always the first to offer up his time and resources to worthy causes. Every action Max took demonstrated his dedication to his neighborhood and his desire to have a positive influence on others around him.

Max liked to work in wood, garden, and spend time outside in his free time. He was well-known for his skill and attention to detail and had a passion for restoring antique furniture. Max enjoyed traveling with Maria as well, and the two of them saw many stunning places while making lifelong memories.

Max leaves behind his wife, Maria Maffucci; his children, Gina Rossi (Michael) of Wethersfield, Anthony Maffucci (Laura) of Hartford, and Lisa Thompson (David) of West Hartford; his sister, Angela Romano of New Haven; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. His brother Joseph Maffucci and parents Giovanni and Teresa Maffucci both passed away before him.

St. Paul’s Church in Wethersfield will host a Mass of Christian Burial on September 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM. On September 9, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel in Wethersfield will have calling hours for the family.

Max Maffucci will always be regarded as a man of exceptional moral integrity, kindness, and steadfast love for his community and family. To all who knew him, his legacy of kindness, diligence, and service will endure. He will always be treasured and greatly missed.
