In Penn Yan Murder-Suicide, Wife Kills Husband then Herself

Following a shooting in Penn Yan that authorities are characterizing as a murder-suicide, a married couple has died.

The Penn Yan Police Department said that Ashley Monaco, 38, shot her 37-year-old husband Michael Personale many times before pulling the trigger on her own weapon.

Monaco allegedly shot herself in the neck after shooting her husband in the head and torso.

When Penn Yan police arrived at a house on Franklin Street at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, they discovered two individuals deceased from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

A family member reported a shooting at the house to 911.

After conducting an investigation, the officers concluded that the shooting was a murder-suicide.
